Satellite TV Questions Answered

Although word about satellite television is getting around, most people still have a lot of questions. For instance, most people want to know what this is. In summary, satellite television is a system that uses satellite in space for transmitting signals. As a result, instead of getting local and a few paid cable channels, satellite television offers so much more and channels that are more robust.

Some of the top providers for satellite television have been in existence for more than 14 years and have multiple satellites to ensure subscribers get the very best. Depending on the provider, some even offer more than 220 channels, each consisting of digital quality programming. With improved quality and advanced technology, satellite television is taking the market by storm.

Another common question has to do with the installation process for satellite television. For the signals to be received, some type of system is required, often in the form of a dish. Typically, the satellite television company will provide the installation at no charge but in some cases, the system can be installed by the homeowner. However, if the homeowner decides to do his or her own installation, it would be important to make sure warranties are not disrupted.

The programming is of course, another question that people want information on. Again, while there will be differences among the different satellite TV providers, most offer hundreds of options that cover every genre possible. Therefore, if someone is into football or NASCAR racing, they can choose from a variety of programming channels to see live action in living color.

Then, many homes still use cable television, so the question comes up regarding comparisons. The truth is that while cable is a good option, satellite television gives subscribers more value for every dollar spent. This would include special programming such as movies, sports, or other special events that would cost much more to watch on cable.

The one thing most people notice immediately with satellite television over cable is the incredible picture clarity. The reason is that the picture is digitally based, so not only the images, but sound also is far superior over what would be seen with cable television. Then, since satellites are used to transmit programming, the satellite television system rarely goes out. While there could be an occasional outage due to a severe storm, there are even steps that could be taken to control this.

Finally, satellite television is something that could be used on several different sets within the home. For this to work, receivers are used, allowing each television to display a different type of programming. Considering all the benefits and excellent value, homeowners are taking steps to move from cable to satellite. The huge advantage of satellite TV is the pure number of HD channels available. Cable does not have the technology to keep up with the satellite providers. Currently DIRECTV leads the pack with the ability to serve up to 150 national HD channels with the Dish Network coming in a close second with the capacity to serve 70.
