Oriental Rugs

If you are looking for something special, unique and beautiful for your home, then you must have oriental rugs within your home. Whether you have an oriental theme or not throughout your home, these rugs fit right in, anywhere, any style. They blend fabulously well with antiques and in the contemporary and modern interior decorating style home decor.

Whether you want one in your living room or your bathroom, these special rugs will bring a touch of the orient to any room in your house. They tell a story in their patterns and style.

When we look at Oriental rugs, we are looking at a very broad term that references the rugs that are made in various countries such as Persia (Iran), Turkey, India, Morocco, the Balkans, China, Mongolia, Egypt, Tibet, Nepal and Afghanistan and many others. To Westerners, these are exotic places and the rugs themselves, especially the antique versions, are symbols of the culture's unsurpassed artisans creating great art from simple strands of wool procured from the sheep raised in these places. Invariably, each of these locations produces rugs specifically within the locality where they are made.

Generally, the rugs of an Oriental style may be termed as antiques, (roughly 100 or more years old), semi antiques (between 10 and 99 years old) and modern, (ones that are hand-knotted and made in the recent times). Many, many people like to have these within their homes as they provide a unique flavor and a certain look of sophistication. They bring style, panache and beautiful colors in the many different designs that are woven from styles hundreds of years ago.

The rugs country of origin is referred to as the rugs family. The name of the specific rug, however, is taken from the rugs city, district or possibly even the name of its weaver's tribe. Oriental rugs are also referred to by type denoting its size or shape. For instance, a Kenari is a runner -- long narrow rug used in a hallway.

Even today, Iranian rugs are still romantically referred to as Persian as well as Oriental. Iran as well as India still produces large quantities of rugs. Some well-known Oriental types of rugs famously include Afshar, Bahktiari, Ispahan, Hamadan Kazak, Serapi and Mosul.

Frequently a design is specific to its place of origin so describing rugs on the whole is difficult. Designs tend to be masterfully intricate and may feature medallions, floral motifs, geometrical shapes and animals, and a wide variety of ornamental accents. Some of the rugs that are produced in an Oriental flavor feature symbols of the Orient and the people of the Orient.

If you are looking for something truly spectacular for your home that is full of color, style, flavor, history and stories, then a rug from the Orient is for you.

Alex Hanson writes reviews on home decor and is fascinated by authentic Oriental rugs, which are always made by hand, if they are to be considered "authentic". They truly are a work of art and a treasure to bring into your home. It maybe surprising but it's true and Kazak Oriental rugs, or any design and style for that matter, blend well with modern and contemporary interior decor and a home filled with antiques. Either way, it brings sophistication and style to your home decor.

Oh and Kazak rugs are very popular and sought after by rug enthusiasts from around the globe.
