How to Compare the Major Satellite TV Providers: Dish Network DirecTV

With the rising demand for satellite TV, you may face a dilemma on which satellite TV company to choose. Both DirecTV and Dish Network have similar marketing promotions where you receive free satellite TV systems on buying their TV receiver or with some programming packages. So this makes it rather difficult on making a decision.

On comparing the number of customers between the two, DirecTV has a higher number of customers. However this does not indicate that it is the better choice. It has more customers mainly because of increased advertising. There is no point in comparing prices to decide on the satellite TV provider to choose. This is because each satellite TV provider has different features which may provoke or dishearten you, depending on your preference.

So it is better to first look at the similarities in Dish Network and DirecTV. Both companies offer same deals of free installation and free satellite TV system. Pricing for movie and local television programs too is the same. Both Dish Network and DirecTV offer digital video recording. However, with the DirecTV satellite TV, it is possible to upgrade to DirecTV Tivo with a nominal fee.

The difference between Dish Network and DirecTV lies in the programs offered to customers. If you have an international preference, Dish Network is the better choice as their networks are existent in foreign markets broadcasting numerous languages. DirecTV does have some foreign programs; mostly movie channels; but the scope is not as wide as the network Dish Network offers.

However, DirecTV offers a plethora of American sports options that sports fans will enjoy. You can buy a pass for major sports play offs like NFL or NBA with DirecTV. There are sports options in Dish Network; but they serve a more global audience. There is an equal amount of exposure for rugby, lacrosse and soccer as there is for football and baseball. As they dont have much of a selection, sports enthusiasts should opt for DirecTV dish and satellite system.

So as you can see, both Dish Network and DirecTV offer quite similar and interesting options. They basically offer the same amount of programming. Your choice differs, and depends on little things about these satellite TV providers that influence your decision. You will have to consider the DirecTV Tivo option which is a very interesting and exciting option. If you plan to have this, then it is better for you to opt for DirecTV.

If you think that you will need the DirecTV HDTV in the future, then it is generally better to choose DirecTV as your satellite TV provider. However, if you have no need of these features in the future, then you will be quite comfortable with Dish Network as your satellite provider. The decision lies in your hands; to decide which the better choice is for you, and what features you basically need in the satellite TV provider.
