If they decide to read on, you now have to convince them that what you can offer will do something to solve their problem or answer their question. Will your software really help them to track all their ads without them needing to be a Mensa member or will this golfing advice they are going to get help cure their slice? Show them that the answer is likely to be Yes and you will get your form filled in. You neednt write a lot: all you need do is let them think that it is possible, and they will want to know more about what you have to offer. For that information they register using the form.

Dont ask them to subscribe that has connotations of regular money payments, and dont use the word register that infers some form of commitment. Your visitors dont want to pay for anything and dont want to commit themselves at this stage. They just want information. Offer them that information and request their email address and first name so that you can send them it. Its that simple.

One of the most important things that you have to keep in your mind is why are using a squeeze page - to get optins - but not just for the sake of getting optins - you want to get the optins for a purpose. You want to get the optins so you can build a relationship online.

List building of course is the foundation of long term online profits, and search engines are one of the biggest sources of online traffic, so why not use search engine traffic to build your lists?

To receive search engine traffic you need to be listed in the major search engines, and employ tactics that will help your web site rise to the top of the search engine listings. One obvious method is PPC, which has already been covered. However, the free, or natural search engine results can drive a lot of traffic your way, when you optimize your listing in search engine results. When you write articles or engage in other methods of building back links to your web site, the search engines will generally give you higher search engine rankings. And when you get higher search engine rankings, you can more easily drive targeted traffic to your list building squeeze pages.

You also want to be sure that your title, description, and keyword tags on your web page are optimized for search engines, and that you include your main keywords in the text of your web page. Another method of gaining entry (although this will not affect your rankings, per se) into the search engines is to submit your web site or squeeze page directly to the various search engines. I do not like to use that technique, and many experts believe that it actually has a negative effect on your web site.

The bottom line is, you want the search engine traffic to be directed to your squeeze page, so that you gain the most mileage out of your traffic.

There are many different strategies and techniques you can use when it comes to
list building. There are a few that succeed and many that fail. Many people have
different opinions on how to approach the task of building lists. But what is the
big secret? I have found that the following strategy has been very helpful for beginners
and also for experienced people.

You need to take time and sit down with a pen and some paper. You have already figured
out your niche and probably have a fair idea about how you are going to plan your
strategy. It is no use going to the trouble to set up the site if only a few people
are going to provide their email address to get the reward. You need to make a list
of what people in your niche are looking for.

After you have completed your list you need to step back and look at the big picture.
It would be great if every single person that loaded the page was willing to enter
their email address. Now rank the list in what you think would be most popular.

Once you have them ranked choose what product or service you will decide to use.
It is extremely popular for people to use eBooks in order to increase their list.
What will you include from your list? Will it be a single eBook?, various eBooks?
or will it be something new and unique? Just put yourself in the place of the visitor
and think what you would most be willing to provide your email for.

In order to be successful in affiliate marketing it is imperative you have a website. There are many hosting plans to choose from and they are quite inexpensive. Writing compelling copy may be one of the most difficult things about creating your squeeze page. You are basically going to take 1 to 3 paragraphs and describe what this product or ebook will do for the person who downloads it. Once again, you are going to write about what the product can do for the person, not how wonderful the product itself is. The only thing the reader cares about is what it will do for them.

One way to come up with compelling copy for this is to write a few paragraphs, imagining that you are writing to a good friend of yours, describing why they should read your new book. You should write it as if you personally know the person that is going to read it.

Do not feel compelled to make this copy long, just make sure that it adequately describes what the free giveaway is going to do for the person reading it. One way to make this easy would be to offer a sentence or two about what each section in the ebook will teach the reader. If you have 8 10 sections in the book, it will be quite easy to write 8 10 sentences about the ebook and its value to the reader.

Create Bullet Points for Your Squeeze Page

In this next section of your squeeze page, you will create a short list (I prefer 5 benefits to the reader.

As an example, keeping with the deep sea fishing niche idea:

The One Color Sharks Love and You Should Never Wear Underwater

Notice the excitement and suspense these benefit bullet points create (except perhaps the last one) create for the reader, and notice that each of these benefits appeals to the reader himself. They dont tout the greatness (for lack of a better word) of your web site or your product, instead they focus on what the reader himself might need.

The benefits are all about the reader, the surfer. They are designed to compel the reader of your squeeze page to download your free gift to them. But a free gift is only a bargain if the gift has usefulness to the reader. So your giveaway must have value, must impart something of value to the reader, your future subscriber.

And in the same way, your benefit points must be exciting to the reader, they must inspire the surfer or reader of your squeeze page to choose to download the free gift.

Email marketing is still the most cost effective way to build your online business, and the best way to succeed with email marketing is to have your own quality mailing list.

An opt in email list contains addresses of people who have agreed to receive information from you, whether that be a newsletter or promotions relating to your online business. It is very important that you get peoples permission first before sending them any information. If you are accused of spam then your ISP may cancel your account.

Building a profitable email list takes a lot of persistence and patience, but it is possible. More importantly a permission based email list can bring you much better results then a purchased one. Why? Because a permission based email list

consists of people that you know are interested in what you are offering. Who knows what the people on a purchased list are interested in.

Your mailing list can consist of current customers, old customers, potential customers, prospects and new leads.

How can you get started?

- The single most important thing that you can do to build your list is to have a sign up form on your website. If not, then you are missing out on an easy way to grow your list. Not only should you put the form on your home page, but put it on every page you have as well. Do it now! Go to GetResponse and get set up as soon as possible.

- Any form at all on your website should ask for permission for you to send out future mailings. If someone downloads one of your ebooks make sure you ask for their email address so you can send them updates. You get the idea.

- One way to build your email list is to use classified advertising. Classified ads work very well for finding new prospects. Offer a free report or article relating to your topic of interest. Classified ads work great when you use such lines as: write for further information, free report or software, etc. Be creative in your ads and have fun as you build your email list.

- Partner with other websites that are similar to your own. Ask to exchange links or banner ads for your newsletter, or see if they could add your newsletter to their opt in form.

- Contact other email marketers who already own a list and advertise your newsletter or website in their newsletters. You can also inquire about solo ads. Solo ads are a good way to promote your newsletter because your ad is sent out solo to all the addresses on a list.

- Viral marketing is a good way to generate interest in your newsletter and help to build your email list. Always include a forward to a friend link in every one of your newsletters as well as a sign up link for those new readers.

- The truth is that once your subscribers believe and trust in you then they will buy from you. You can build this trust by publishing articles relating to your websites content. Use your resource box or author bio to advertise your newsletter.

- Put together a forum or discussion group on your website to find out what your customers wants may be and then target those wants.

- Join other forums and provide recommendations and expert advice to help build your reputation.

- Make friends with someone who has a successful email list. Experience is the best teacher.

Every successful business should have a mailing list, but failing to communicate with your list could mean losing the most valuable asset of your business.

The key to Internet success is to get your business noticed and one of the most effective ways to do this is by building an opt in email list.

If you are still not sure of the importance of building your own targeted opt in email list then here are a few more tips that you may find useful.

1. Determine your target market. It will be much more difficult to build your list if you do not have a particular market in mind. Having a target market will also allow you to focus more on your campaigns which will give you better results since you are directing your emails to those who
will most likely respond to them.

2. Your target market should be widely available on the Internet. How can you promote your online business if no one is interested? Research your market and avoid wasting any time.

3. Use the search engines to verify your target markets income producing potential. Search for ads that contain keywords relating to your interest and if you find many then you know that if people are willing to pay for advertising relating to your market then chances are good that you picked a winner.

It takes alot of preparation and effort to build a profitable email list and it does not happen overnight. They are built one email address at a time. As your list gets bigger it is important to maintain the quality of your list. Keep it clean and organized. Most of all, make sure your subscribers are satisfied and if they are, then they will make sure you are too.

The success of your online business depends on your opt in email list. Consider your list as valuable as gold and as most successful online marketers say, the money is in the list.
